Chris Rush Induces Large Doses of Laughter and Rockets us to Heaven

I am not a professional Comedian, at least not yet. The reasons for this are mainly, fear and lack of motivation due to a depression that only allows me to tell jokes and do my routine for friends and strangers that hold no real power over my career. Ha ha funny. However, amidst my constant wallowing and regret, which is questioned by some, since I spend most of my time making fun of...everything, I am perfectly aware that laughter and the ability to see the comic side of life are indeed the tickets to Bliss. Here at 45 Bleecker Theater, which has been referred to as the Comedy Central of theater, most of us have similar sentiments. As a matter of fact, if I look out the small window of the office I am in right now, I could laugh at a few things, loudly, and still be seen as normal. Or I could just ask my boss, Hey how is everything in the Theater? Then we will both look at each other and burst out into laughter since the daily events that occur behind the scenes are premium material for a Sitcom or comedy show. Yeah its madness, but it all stems from the human condition and that's what makes it beautiful and of course, funny. Therefore it's of no surprise that Chris Rush will be gracing our stage with his healing comedy through the month of August. Chris Rush, according to him, has been doing comedy since the age of One. Me too!(according to my mother). He has been recognized and respected by the Comic world since the 70's and has been compared to the great and beloved George Carlin. After some time out of the spotlight he has come back to us with plenty of hilarious proof that when we laugh we get closer to Heaven. I and believe that, in both the literal sense and the abstract sense. Since our bodies carry stress and tension which are difficult to release through regular communication and activity, the act of laughter works as a powerful force and tool that comes out of our bodies carrying deep taboos and anxieties that were never expressed other than through the genius observations of the comedian, in this case Chris Rush. When this happens our bodies instantly feel lighter, elevated and closer to heaven by at least a few millimeters. So don't be alarmed if during Chris Rush's show you see some happy floating audience members. Bliss its the name of the show because that's what Mr. Rush's comedy aims to make you feel. With abundant deep thoughts and relevant topics Bliss is an enlightening show that rockets us into Heaven teeth first.

Understanding New York through the art of LA II

Follin Gallery Opening Often understanding the environment a person has grown up in and continues to explore during their life facilitates our appreciation for their vocation or form of expression. Talking to LA II about where he made his art and what fueled his passion helped me capture the history which flows out from his work. LA II was both a student and teacher of Keith Haring’s, though most people consider him to be the former. His life in the LES with a Puerto Rican backdrop was his canvas and inspiration. His graffiti inspired art are a sort abstract impressionism of the LES and his life. I had the opportunity to speak with LA II ( Angel Ortiz) and the curator of the Follin Gallery, Heidi Follin at the opening. Each piece is a picture of all the years Mr. Ortiz has spent creating his work. After spending some time with the paintings and the artist I felt I lived in the LES during the 80’s and now better comprehend where a lot of trends that we follow today come from. Putting his talent aside, I can also say, he was a pleasure to speak with and a very open person which gave the Follin Gallery Opening a very welcoming atmosphere. There were snacks and free wine and we all enjoyed a night of art in great company at 45Bleecker.
